DR N. AJITHKUMAR - CELEBRATING 25 Ph Ds PRODUCED
At SH College, the research centre in Economics had a gift from Cochin College - Prof. Ajithkumar, former faculty and Principal of the College, the illustrious son an illustrious father - Prof. Rao, an authority of English Language in the undivided Kerala University.
He has matched the 25 years of the history of the research centre, by producing 25 Ph Ds (in fact, 23 from the centre and two others from elsewhere), with a few more in the pipeline.
Dr. Ajithkumar stands tall - both in his physical stature and as an academic and research guide in the present day Keralam.
I was thrilled to see him introducing each of his students, some of them of his own age, with all their merits and achievements. And 21 of the 24 (one is no more) had gathered to celebrate the rare achievement. And together with them, there were also a few other beneficiaries or students, indirectly, guided and supported by him.
It was a good gathering, it was a good initiative, a simple but grand celebration.
That was a spontaneous planning and a gathering of great fellow feeling.
I hope the spirit of Dr. Ajithkumar will be sustained for the posterity by the students - by way of a chair or an annual lecture on trends in Research Practice in his honour at the SH research centre.
